  • Cool- turned out well...
  • Really enjoyed this interview, Edward. It's funny but I happened to also be sick (sinus/lung infection) during the recording of the podcast. Not sure how much of that came through in the audio. In this video clip, I took the raw audio. For the podcast, Matt did a lot of cleaning up of the frequency range to improve the sound clarity and ease of listening. The other difference is that there is no music in the background of this video clip.

That particular biblical quote you mention (2 Peter 1:19) has been meaningful to me in my own occult path. I feel it to mean that at the beginning of our journey of initiation we are forced to follow the guidance of those more experienced and mentally free than ourselves. We must rely on the words of the "prophets" or teachers until the time when Lucifer arises in our own heart, at which point we gain access to a more personal source of knowledge.
  • I sound particularly ill during this segment. I had bronchitis at the time.
I go into much more detail concerning Lucifer, the serpent and Satan in my book Sophia Bestiae. However, just as a teaser, it is worth noting that Jesus referred to himself as Lucifer in the original Latin Vulgate of Jerome (not the modern 1970s version where such 'inconsistencies' were altered):

2 Peter 1:19 et habemus firmiorem propheticum sermonem cui bene facitis adtendentes quasi lucernae lucenti in caliginoso loco donec dies inlucescat et lucifer oriatur in cordibus vestris

(And we have the more firm prophetical word: whereunto you do well to attend, as to a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn and the day star arise in your hearts.)

Note the use of lucifer rather than stella matutina
